You never forget your first band (I assume). In my formative years as a professional musician, this group was a source of laughter, chaos, creative growth, and a safe place to hide when being a solo artist got too hard.
One rehearsal we all played with one hand, just to see if we could. An early attempt at a band meeting saw every member turn up at a different donut shop in the city. We wrote our first single within 2hr of meeting for the first time, improvised on stage when we ran out of songs, and made a (I would say high quality) music video for $6.
I learned to write songs with other people, formed deep friendships (that I’m thankful we get to keep), and took great pride in my official title of “soccer mum.” Here’s a couple of the songs we wrote together:
