A song for housemates, from a housemate
My housemate was at Sydney Dance Company and keen to give some structured improv a go. I had never directed a dance peformance before, but hey, there’s a first time for everything. What I learnt was foundational: that my training as a music producer is directly transferrable to movie directing. Both are about working with people, inviting them into your vision, and drawing out performances.
